It sure looks like things have slowed down here!

Actually, I've taken to posting photographic work on Google+

Head on over to the +Lou Genovese area to see my profile for lots of photography and other random thoughts.

On the Rail

The lines of receding railroad tracks always conjure up thoughts of heading out on the road, adventure, and excitement. This was a rainy spring day, and the thought of escaping to far off lands was appealing...

Spring Arrival

My relatives live in southern Connecticut, and are always commenting on how much more snow we get up here in Massachusetts. This year did deliver quite a measure of snow, but these little guys are the sure sign of spring every year.

The Boardwalk

This new boardwalk replaces an old and broken down version that used to provide passage between 2 elementary schools. A community project raised the funding to build this new one, which is very nice, and a great place to visit, as many kids do on their bikes.

Sunset Swamp

There is a swamp dividing 2 of the elementary schools in Acton, MA. A new boardwalk was recently installed, and this is one of the photos I took from the nice new walk. It's a very serene place to visit, though it was a bit cold on this March evening.

Stone Pier

This image is another from my weekend in Falmouth, MA. The sky was a bit turbulent on this windy March day, but the stones leading to the empty pier were a nice doorway to the ocean horizon.

Stairway to the Sky

These stairs led up to the observation deck above a clam shack in Falmouth, MA. THe photo was taken on a blustery March day, nothing like the warm days of Summer. I'm sure there's much more activity here in the warm season, but the lack of activity gave this place a kind of "other world" feel.

Leftovers

It's amazing the amount of "stuff" that gets discarded. This pile of metal scrap actually is more of a waiting station. Items are deposited, and some are picked up when someone sees an item with some life left to spare. I'm sure each piece has a story...

Florida Palms

As I sit here looking out the window at the 3+ feet of snow on the ground, I was remembering a trip to Florida this past September. Sometimes the patterns of nature can be mesmerizing. These palms had a soft color to them, but I combined 3 exposures into this black and white "spiral." The photo was taken on a very relaxing and warm day, and getting lost in the lines brings back that feeling.

Seagulls in Lowell

I was killing some time along the river in Lowell, MA early on a Sunday morning, and some walkers were out feeding the birds. There was a flock of well over 100 birds; seagulls, pigeons, and ducks, swarming around the path along the river. This one bird flew right  in front of me on his way to a landing on a snow bank along the path. I created multiple exposures from the one frame, then combined them to add some contrast and bring in a bit more detail.

Littlefield Morning

This is a location in Boxborough,MA that I drive by on a fairly regular basis. It's kind if a quiet road, not many cars pass. I've photographed here before, but in the winter, with all the snow we've had recently, it just had nice feel this morning. The road is called Littlefield road, hence the title.

Westford Snow

I have been a member of a BNI group in Westford, MA for the last few years. We have been meeting at a local function room with a large window that looks over a field. I've wanted to photograph the field for a long time, and finally managed to get to the meeting early enough (it starts at 7 am) to have some time to shoot. Not sure why the first time out was a quite cold January morning, but the snow was serene, and the sunrise colors were nice and soft.

There are a few other views I want to shoot, so I'm sure there will be more of this location soon.

Big Red Tug

I have a nephew attending Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and this past weekend was the launch of the TS Kennedy for his first Sea Term. It was a cold sunny day, but the tugs were impressive, as was the Kennedy. I'll post a photo of the Kennedy sometime soon.

Past Christmas

This is about the time that the feeling of Christmas starts to fade away.

I thought I'd try to keep it just a bit longer.
